Opua Renovation & Extension

'In late 2015 Natalie designed, and undertook the associated resource and building consent processes for the partial renovation and new build of our house in Opua.

The entire design and planning project was seamless and enjoyable, mostly due to Natalie's thorough professionalism, practical advice and strong focus on our needs. She carefully listened to our ideas, and cleverly interpreted them. Natalie met our brief with a functional and highly attractive design that was sympathetic to the original residence, and the difficult site.

During 2016, Mark and his team demolished half of the old residence and rebuilt it, as well as extensively renovating the remaining part.

Mark is obviously committed to high standards of workmanship. He is totally reliable and trustworthy. He is very conscious of his client’s budget, and considers this with every decision. He fully involved us in the multitude of decisions necessitated by building, and respected our wishes.

We would not hesitate to recommend Mark and Natalie as a design and build team.'

Kerikeri New Build

'We were considering building using one of the big well-known companies, but after hearing some horror stories we started asking around town for any recommendations, and Mark Todd's name kept coming up.

We met Natalie and Mark at our section and gave them a quick run-down of what we wanted. Natalie 'got us' straight away, and from our basic floor plan and wish list she came up with a concept drawing within a few days. It was almost perfect and after a bit of fine-tuning we were ready for proper plans.

Natalie organised all the wrangling with council, giving us great advice and support throughout the process. She was a delight to work with.

Mark provided us with costings which were broken down into categories (roof, electrical, plumbing etc.) enabling us to go for cheaper options in some areas so we could splurge in others. Mark has been wonderful to work with and the house has turned out beautifully. His entire team have been very friendly and the whole process has been faultless. On budget, on time and top quality workmanship! And we ended up enjoying the project from go to whoa. Thanks Mark, Natalie and the rest of the dream team!'

Kerikeri New Build

We employed the team at Absolute Build to design and build a multi-functional shed on our residential property in Kerikeri.

The shed, which was primarily designed as a workshop and storage facility for our Plumbing & Gasfitting business, also comprises part ‘man cave’ and boat storage.

There are many challenges that come with having a construction site within metres of your home and business. Site access, parking, safety, noise, dust, privacy, and making sure the dog didn’t get out, all had to be factored into the plan. I imagine it would be far easier to build on an empty section, but Absolute Build had the skills and experience to minimise any stresses and to problem solve when the unexpected arose.

When issues with Council threatened to derail the project, designer Natalie was quick to respond with practical solutions and to liaise with external suppliers to keep things moving along.

Mark and his team were friendly, helpful, and very easy to have around. They took the attitude that there was “no such thing as a dumb question” patiently explaining the process if asked. They clearly communicated when they would be onsite and when access might be an issue so that we never held up when we needed to go out.

The quality of their service, attention to detail, and standard of workmanship is exceptional and we can’t fault the end result.
